The Right Rules for Every Division

Set the sport and rules for the whole tournament or for each division, so one event can run judo and wrestling side by side. Rules can change by age group and round — say, a different bout length for under-12 finals — and every board follows them automatically.

Online Entries, Fees and Agreements

Competitors and parents enter on your tournament's public page and pay as they go. You decide what the form asks, what it costs and who can enter.

Weigh-In, Accreditation and the Desk

Fair Draws in Every Format

The draw wizard suggests a format for each division by its size, keeps clubmates apart if you ask, then lays the divisions out on your mats.

How much does it cost to run a tournament?

Intro offer: your first tournament is free. Club tournaments where only your own members compete are free on a paid Club Management plan. During launch, the first 20 paid tournaments on IpponBoard pay a flat $5. After that, $5 covers up to 20 athletes, then $3 for every extra 5 (a part-group counts as 5) — for example $17 for 40 athletes or $53 for 100. You pay $5 when you publish and the rest when the tournament starts, counted from the athletes taking part. Prices are in AUD. The Scoreboard app is always free.

Can you help me set up a big event?

Yes. If you're running a state title, a national championship or a multi-day event, book a free call (from the Contact page) and we'll help you set up the divisions, draws, mats and scoring before the day.

Which sports can I run?

Judo (IJF rules), wrestling (UWW freestyle and Greco-Roman), BJJ (IBJJF), ADCC and sambo (FIAS), each with its own periods, overtime or golden score, penalties and tie-breaks. You set the sport and rules for the whole tournament or per division, so one event can mix sports, and rules can change by age group and round (for example shorter finals for under-12s).

Does it work if the venue Wi-Fi drops?

Yes. Each mat's Scoreboard keeps working offline all day: the next bout comes up, brackets advance on the board (repechage, round robin, best of three) and results are kept on the device, then sent back as soon as it's online again. Setting up, entries and the Control page run in the browser and need a connection.

Do I need Club Management to run a tournament?

No. Anyone can sign up as an organiser and run a tournament — you don't need a club on IpponBoard or a Club Management plan. If your club does use Club Management, you can run tournaments from the club side, and tournaments where only your own members compete are free on a paid plan.

What do I need on the day?

A device for each mat running the free Scoreboard app — a Windows PC, Mac, iPad or iPhone — plus a browser for the Control page. For entry fees at the desk you can take cash, card, or use a Square Terminal or the Square app.

Can parents or volunteers score?

Yes. Add volunteer scorers by email or from your club's members. They sign in to the Scoreboard with their own account and can score the tournament's bouts — without getting access to your members, payments or settings.

How do entrants pay their fees?

Online when they enter, through a pay link you email later, or at the desk on the day. Online payments go straight to your own connected Stripe or Square account. You can set member and non-member rates, early-bird prices and a price for extra divisions.
